Shimano Volcanic Epic Returns for 2025

Buckle up, mountain bikers! The Shimano Volcanic Epic, presented by Tineli, is roaring back for its third year, and it's going to be bigger and better than ever. From March 26-30, 2025, riders will conquer the stunning trails of Rotorua and Taupō, navigating New Zealand's geothermal wonderland. Whether you're a solo adventurer or prefer to team up, there's something for everyone – including a two-day option if you're after a shorter, but still epic, challenge.

Reliving Last Year’s Triumphs
The 2024 race was a smash hit, with 350 riders from 11 countries tearing up the trails. From pro teams to weekend warriors, participants hailed from places like Australia, Canada, the US, and New Caledonia, all eager to take on New Zealand’s premier singletrack.

Charging Into 2025
Since opening registration on April 17, spots for the 2025 race are flying off the shelves – over 30% are already snagged! This year, we’re excited to welcome riders from 15 different countries, including Brazil, Ukraine, Ireland, and Hong Kong.

Fresh Trails and Local Vibes
Prepare for some new and gnarly routes around Rotorua and Taupō. We’re introducing hidden gem trails that are bound to test your skills and pump your adrenaline. "The buzz this year has been phenomenal," said Tim Farmer, Co-owner and Race Director. "The Volcanic Epic isn’t just a race; it’s a showcase of our killer trails and the awesome community spirit here. We can’t wait for another unforgettable event."

“It was terrific,” said Jason Johnson from Melbourne. “My wife and I came over to hit some awesome trails. A fantastic five days. We love Rotorua – we first came here eight years ago and it’s amazing to be back. It’s been a great trip.”

"This was my first stage race ever, and I would love to come back! It was an amazing trip to New Zealand, and the Volcanic Epic made it even more special," said Manuela Kaufmann from Switzerland.

“We’re traveling around New Zealand for a month, my girlfriend and I. She did the two-day Epic, her first race ever,” said Benno Heussi from Switzerland. “I’ve done many races, like the Swiss Epic and TransAlps, but this race is spectacular.”
