We have a role to assist with set-up and pack-down of each stage for the Volcanic Epic. In exchange for your hard work you will get a complimentary entry into the Volcanic Epic.  Alternatively, your support crew can sign up to assist daily, this would be out on course during the race. Venue Set Up/Pack Down Crew  

Competencies Required

• Your attendance and punctuality are vital to the effective operation of this event. 
• To be effective and functional, all our crews must work together. Remember to communicate well, follow through with your tasks and support all your fellow crew members
• Be physically fit, ability to lift heavy objects and work in all types of weather.
• A passion for being part of a wider team.
• A strong desire to deliver an awesome event. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Venue
  • Building of venue infrastructure - finish line chute, gantry, pop up tents, branding, signage
  • Assist with any other aspect of the event as required.

  • Course marshal 
  • Aid Station

Key Tasks

• Work with the event team to ensure the site build and branding is set up correctly
  • Assist with the setup and pack down of Finish Line Chute with fencing, branding and gantry.
  • Assist with setup and pack down of Pop up tents with all furnishings
  • Assist with the setup and pack down of the Prizegiving area.
  • Hand out finisher medals on Stage 4 to all finishing riders - Nominated Person only 
• Course assistance - Nominated Person only 
  • Marshalling to direct the riders the correct way on course. 
  • Assist in the Aid Station with food and hydration 
  • Transport to and from course marshal and aid station points will be available from the Event Base.​

Hours 
These hours are an estimate, from time to time there may be slight amendments on the planned hours. Must be available for the entire schedule.

• Wednesday 3rd of April, 7.00am - 10.00am - Rotorua 
• Thursday 4th of April, 2.30pm - 5.00pm - Rotorua
• Friday 5th of April, 6.00am - 9.00am and 2.30pm - 5.00pm - Taupo
• Saturday 6th of April, 6.00am - 9.00am and 2.30pm - 5.00pm - Tokoroa
• Sunday 7th of April, 6.00am - 9.00am and 2.30pm - 5.00pm - Rotorua 

If you are a Nominated Person

• Wednesday 3rd of April, 12pm - 3pm - Rotorua 
• Thursday 4th of April, 9.00am - 2.00pm - Rotorua
• Friday 5th of April, 9.00am - 2.00pm - Taupo
• Saturday 6th of April, 9.00am - 2.00pm - Tokoroa
• Sunday 7th of April, 7.00am - 2.00pm - Rotorua

Benefits & Terms of Role

• One free entry into the Volcanic Epic 2024 event valued at $810
• Entry not include additional entry benefits and can not be exchanged for monetary value. 
• Entry can not be refunded, deferred or transferred.
• Failure to attend shifts will result in immediate cancellation of entry. 
• You can nominate a person to complete the shifts for you i.e a spectator who is travelling with you. 
• Must have wet weather gear and enclosed shoes (no cycling shoes) 
• Must have own accommodation and transport arrangements to and from each stage. 
• Limited spots available and valid for new entries only. 
• Must be 18+
