START PROCEDURE
Seeded starts are an important part of the rider enjoyment & safety no matter the ability of the rider. Riders who wish to be in the first start wave on stage one must complete the Wednesday prologue with the top 50 riders gaining seeding.
For all other riders, they will self-seed for the start of stage one for a mass start. At the completion of the first stage, riders will receive a colour mark on their number plate which will determine their start wave for stages 2, 3 and four.
Start waves for stages 2, 3 & 4 will have 50-100 riders per start wave.

Stage four is a point-to-point stage. There are two option on your race day logistics:
SHUTTLE BUS
Drop your bike off to the start line on Saturday afternoon, where it will be securely stored overnight. You will also be able to explore the geothermal valley at the start line venue and walk the 4km of private land while you are here. On Sunday morning, drive to the finish line and jump on the shuttle to the start line. The bus trip is 25 minutes. Cost $25 + 5% processing fee.
DROP OFF
Your support crew can drive you to the start venue and drop you off. They can then drive 3km down the road to the support crew parking. From here your support crew members can catch a shuttle all the way to the start venue to see the start.
Spectator Shuttle $10 + 5% processing fee

- Supporter parking is only available until 9am, participants can not leave their cars in the parking location all day.
- Prams/bikes/pets can not be taken on the bus.
ON COURSE SUPPORT
The aid station will have food, hydration, medical and mechanical support. The food section of the aid station is self service. This will be stocked with the following:
- Energy gels
- Sports drink
- Water
FINISH LINE CHILL ZONE
The Volcanic Epic finish line is the coolest place to hang out in NZ mountain biking.
Sit back and savour the hardest earned beer in the country thanks to some amazing local craft beer with friends and family. The finish line area will have everything you need to refuel and celebrate you epic ride while waiting for your riding buddies to catch up. We have a great selection of food trucks and coffee.

MECHANICAL SUPPORT
Bike Clinic will be at the start and finish line of each stage including the prolouge to ensure you and your bike keep rolling. Basic adjustments are gold coin donation with more detail work such as repairs with be an extra charge.
